Song Hao (Zhang Yu) returns home for the first time in 15 years to attend his mother’s funeral. He  meets old friends and his appearance after so many years even offers the possibility of romance.  But there’s a secret Song Hao holds close. He left town because he was implicated in a tragic  crime. It was witnessed by an old schoolmate (Lee Hong-Chi), who is now a property dealer and  sees an opportunity to blackmail Song Hao and his powerful father. Opening with the crime – the  pelting rain foreshadowing the dark turn the film will take – before jumping forward to the present,  Li Xiaofeng’s crime drama focuses on the increasing division that money has produced in China,  less as a critique of capitalist society than a reminder of the responsibilities that come with wealth  and power.
